Our story
Asia Animal Welfare Foundation (the Foundation) was founded in Hong Kong by three animal lovers from overseas. Seeing animals suffer, they set up a charitable, non-profit organisation to speak up for animals and, through education, help more people learn to respect life.

Our Chairman: Mr Eddy Lau Kwok Hung
Mr Eddy Lau Kwok Hung is the current Chairman of Asia Animal Welfare Foundation. Now 77, he has devoted many years to providing rescue and medical care for animals, and has never slowed down.
Whether it is an injured stray on the street or a small life in need of treatment and care, Chairman Lau is there in person, working side by side with the medical team and the Foundation's partners to give every animal a second chance. To him, every life deserves to be treated gently.
Today, Chairman Lau continues to lead the Foundation forward in building Asia's first smart, eco-friendly animal education centre, so that this commitment to animals is carried on and more people learn to respect and care for life.
Our objects
Under its constitution, the Foundation is a charitable, non-profit organisation dedicated to preventing cruelty to animals of all kinds for the benefit of the Hong Kong community, and to running education programmes in Asia that teach the public to protect animals from cruelty.
Our work
- Advising and guiding students who are studying, or plan to study, veterinary courses overseas
- Organising, sponsoring and promoting academic activities and projects in Asia and overseas
- Providing teaching and learning facilities on a non-profit basis to support students, tutors and staff
- Offering a platform for animal groups, veterinary organisations and the public to share information, experience and skills
- Supporting other charitable purposes and non-profit exhibitions
Our commitment
All income and property of the Foundation are used solely to promote its objects, and are never distributed, directly or indirectly, to its members as bonuses or in any other form.

Medical rescue
Saving lives, healing with love
For years Chairman Eddy Lau has worked alongside vets and medical partners to treat injured and sick animals. Every operation gives them back their health and hope.
